Fusion Women Earn a Draw in their first ever match

Fusion Women come back from two down to win a point on the road in their first game in the history of the program!!

The game was their first in another country, their first in the Michigan Super League/WPSL and their first of the season.  Even bigger than that, it was the first game in the history of the Midland Fusion Women's team!  It began a little sour but ended with a hard fought draw which was a sweet ending for the 13 players who played in the first match.

The Fusion Women went down a goal against the run of play in the 10th minute before Alaina Schalk notched the first ever goal for the squad on a strike from 22 yards out to equalize 3 minutes later.

A bad turnover led to another score for Caboto SC and they added to that talley in the 30th minute.  McKinley Berry drove into the box on a break away which was saved by the goalkeeper and the rebound swept up by Grace Sczpanski with 8 minutes left in the half to allow the Fusion women to enter the half only down 1 at 2-3.

The second half saw more chances to equalize by Berry, as well as two opportunities by Brianna Rich before Peyton Starner put away the equalizer with 8 minutes left.  The Fusion Women kept up the attack with both Sophia Reilly Cat Mueller and Brianna Rich all forcing the Caboto SC goalkeeper to make key saves.

The Fusion Women will be back in action Tuesday, May 28th at Midland Soccer Club @8:00pm
