For all those interested in becoming a referee:
All referees regardless of age will take the entry level G-9 course.

Risk Management
For all referees born before 1/1/1990:
* Effective July 1, 2007 in order to be certified or recertified as an USSF soccer referee it is necessary to go through a risk management process if you were born before January 1, 1990. If this applies to you, a RISK MANAGEMENT (criminal background check) certificate or card must be presented to the instructor at either the first meeting of an entry
level class or at a recertification class.
*The Cost of Risk Management if $10.00 and is valid for 2 years. It is paid by the individual at the time of applying for risk Management. It is your responsibility to obtain and present the certificate or card to the instructor at the class you attend.
* RISK MANAGEMENT MAY BE OBTAINED BY GOING TO THE SITE
http://www.msysa.net/programs/riskmanage.html
The fee of $10.00 needs to be paid by credit card at the time applying.
Once approved you will be notified by email.
* PRINT OUT A COPY OF THE CERTIFICATE AND BRING TO THE CLASS.
If you have a current unexpired risk management card (number), because you are a coach, team official, administrator, etc, THAT RISK MANAGEMENT NUMBER WILL BE ACCEPTED. It must be presented at either a recertification class or at the 1st meeting of an entry level class.
* You MUST have this completed prior to taking a recertification class.
New Uniforms:
The USSF has introduced a new Referee uniform color (green), a new style of the previous uniform colors (yellow, red, blue, and black), and a new style of socks (double-striped) for 2008, which are available through Official Sports.
However, Carlos Folino announced that a "yellow is a yellow and black is a black, etc.", meaning that the Michigan Referee Committee has approved the continued usage of the older style USSF Referee jerseys. Referees should not feel compelled to buy new uniforms, but should replace their older uniforms with the new uniform color and styles when their older equipment becomes worn-out.
A referee crew should continue to match jersey color and sleeve length, and try to match jersey and socks style, if possible.
MSC Referee Uniform: Since the MSC uniform colors will continue to be Kelly green and white the new green jersey will not be used in our club. However, if you are planning on working in tournaments out of our facility you may have to consider buying the new green jersey as the rest of the state refs moves to that new color jersey.
Alternative referee shirts: As most of you know, if you are planning on working in travel soccer matches at our complex or our tournaments you need to purchase or have available an alternative color referee shirt. You need to have a red, blue or black jersey in the case that the visiting team is in yellow.
