Dreams do come true! Terry Stanton’s dream was to establish a scholarship program which would provide need-based financial assistance to soccer players at the Midland Soccer Club. However, he never had the chance to see that dream come true. Terry lost his long battle with kidney failure in June of 2007.
Terry always believed it was the Midland Soccer Club’s obligation to provide an outlet to Midland’s youth – and financial status should not dictate who could and who could not play. The Terry Stanton Memorial Scholarship Program, run through the Midland Soccer Club, was established in May of 2008. In its first year, the program was able to raise almost $5,000 for scholarships for youth in the Midland-area to participate in soccer during the fall and spring seasons.
It is with this need in mind that we proudly invite you to be part of the 2nd annual Terry Stanton Memorial Golf Outing to be held on Sunday, July 19th, 2009. All funds raised will be used to provide scholarships to underprivileged youth soccer players at the Midland Soccer Club. It cannot be done without your help and support. Golfing in the outing as a foursome, sponsoring a hole on the course, making a monetary contribution or donating a prize representing your organization are just some of the ways to get involved in this event. We welcome and appreciate any support you are able to offer.
